You may have come across many schematics and projects about a cell phone controlled land rover in many websites. But this is not the same. This article will show you how to make a cell phone controlled land rover without using a microcontroller. You read it right we are not going to use any kind of costly microcontroller for making the rover.

i have tried this

i have tried this project,when i placed leds at 11 ,12 ,13 ,14 ports of mt8870 they arer glowing but when i tried to rotate the motors using l293d they are not working ...please help me......i need to finish this project soon...........

u need transistor connect

u need transistor connect collector with 5 volts and connect your output port with transistor base and motor with emiter than your motor will work. led need 2 volts but motor need higher voltage and inital torque is also high thats y it need higher voltage

Why are there two mobile

Why are there two mobile phones in the video!? one should suffice right?

One mobile acts as the remote

One mobile acts as the remote (In video: Nokia 1209 phone) and the other mobile (In video: Nokia  5320 phone) is a part of the receiver circuit.

Effectively 2nd mobile phone acts as u rmicrocontroller/ GSM recevier unit. I dont want to dis courage you or anything but you are using your phone to do uC stuff..

Acting as a uC is different

Acting as a uC is different from actually using it right? And we need not program the phone or configure it to work unlike a uC. I just tried to reduce the extra uC (ATmega8 or ATmega16) being used in it since it requires both programming and money to buy. Anyways, thanks for your compliment.

0 stand for 10 thats mean

0 stand for 10 thats mean 1010 not 0000, so we not stop the robot using Cellphone, if we use old telephone set thats contain "D" thats BCD code is "0000", then possible to stop the robot

Geared motors are provided with a bolt. With that you can attach it to the chassis.

Yes,you can but you would

Yes,you can but you would have to use a complicated circuit consisting of several logic gates which is actually tougher,more complicated than using a microcontroller

In the photo there is 7 resistors,5 capacitors, 1 -7805 ..but in circuit diagram there is only 3 resistors,3 capacitors ... i am doing this project,, but i m getting partial output i.e the motor is not rotating continuesly..small jerk's only there..can u pls give me the exact circuit diagram which is in the photo..pls mail it  as soon as possible ..thank you.

Thats because in the circuit

Thats because in the circuit diagram I didn't include the two LED indicators(1 connected directly to the output of 7805 through 330E resistor and another to one of the outputs of decoder through 333E resistor).

-The 2 extra capacitors near to 7805 are filters to get a proper 5V power supply.

-And in circuit diagram u can notice a 330k ohms resitor between pin 16 & 17 of decoder. I couldn't get a 330k so i used 220k + 100k + 10k (3 resistors) in series.

-You said you are getting jerks only. Check for any loose connections (it always happens), check the current (It shouldn't exceed 1A since 7805's maximum rating is 1A only) and lastly try checking the motor driver.

thanks for ur reply.......instead of using MT8870,I used CM8870,, when i searched i

come to know that MT8870 is decoder IC and CM 8870 is the receiver IC,, but both th pin details are equal...so will it produce that jerk!!

the jerks produced are not due to the decoder IC so changing that IC is not going to affect the jerks.
