Using remote control for home appliances is a great choice. They can be used to on and off the appliances like TV, AC, DVD player, motor etc with the help of our TV remote. LEDs can be used to on and off. IF LED1 is glowing, it means device is off and if LED2 glows than the device connected is on. This is a low cost circuit is based on the CD4017 counter IC which receives trigger pulse from IR sensor and switch on the relay. Since, the device is connected to relay it is also switched on.

Upon receiving the second pulse motor become off. You can control your toy car from 5 meters range. This is a simple circuit based on infrared sensor IC TSOP1738. TSOP1738 contains photo detector and pre-amplifier both in one package. It is a three terminal device. Pin 1 is for ground, Pin 2 is for power supply and pin 3 is used as output.

The number guessing game is quite simple. In this game the player thinks any number between 1 to 99 and then if same number is displayed on screen, he wins otherwise player looses the game. This simple circuit is based on two IC's namely NE555 which is a timer IC. In this circuit we are utilizing it astable mode.
And another one that we are using is 4026, which is a decade counter/divider IC. It converts the input into numeric display without any decoder IC which can be seen on 7 segment display. In this circuit NE555 astable generates a clock for the circuit, which provides a oscillating wave to the output pin 3 of IC1. The time period of counter can be calculated by following formula T = 0.7 (R1 + 2*R2)*C1.

CD4026 is a Johnson counter IC commonly used in digital display. It has a 5 stage Johnson decade counter with a decoder which converts the Johnson code to a 7 segment decoded output. To put it simply, it will convert the input into numeric display and can be seen on 7 segment display or with LED. It can be used for displaying analogue value such as temperature with pic microcontroller or for counting objects.

There is various other applications like in 7 segment decimal display circuit, in clocks, timer etc. Advantages of 4026 counter are : It contains counters and 7 segment decoded in one package, It can be easily interfaced with 7 segment types, Ideal for low power display, Operated at wide range of temperature from 5V to 20V and the biggest advantage of the 4026B counter IC is that it can drive a 7-segment display without needing a decoder driver IC.
