Sometimes when we are working on a shared computer or we have some confidential data that we want to protect it from accessing the other users. A lot of softwares are available for this purpose. But do you know that you can simply create a locked folder in your computer without any software and you will have a key that will be required to unlock that folder. There are two of methods discussed here, to exercise the first one simply follow these steps:
1.      First create a folder in any drive, let’s do as F:/Mouse (It will be better to create a folder with name similar to the name of folders in Control Panel as on clicking the locked folder, it will redirect to the control panel).

2.      Create a notepad (or any other text editor) file and write the following code in it

ren Mouse Mouse.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

Name the file as “loc.bat” and save it in the same drive.
3.      Now to create another batch file, open a text file and put the following code:

ren Mouse.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} Mouse

Name the file as “key.bat” and place in the same directory.

It will be true that lot of

It will be true that lot of softwares are available for this purpose..................................Custom software development

This does NOT work in

This does NOT work in Windows7...

Furthermore its just a trick and anyone knowing what you are doing can revert it back!!

Also, batch files are human readable and anyone can open and read the code and even make changes to it... (everyone can see your password as it is in plain text)...

It would be better if you can come up with a software written  in C/C++ or maybe in .NET and use some kind of hashing technique (such as MD5 or SHA1) for your password!!

Anyways, good trick though.

It's amaging... man !

the folder is visible when

the folder is visible when unchecking "Hide protected operating system files" in folder option. So not very good.......

 I actually found a small

I actually found a small leakage in this article Locker construction of second technique, because In the second technique you would actually set a password to unlock the file and you are prompted to enter the password while you unlocking that Locker folder using that windows batch file named "locker.bat".... what I'm coming to say is create an another one batch file named "123.bat" and copy, paste the following command in it and save the file.

attrib -h -s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
ren "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" Locker

now just double click on the file 123.bat Now your Locker file would be unlocked without any password.....

i am just alert you about the way people can hack into your folder without even knowing your original password.... Is there any way  to improve the security level of this technique????? Reply me without fail..

My folder is not locking.

My folder is not locking. Can any body please tell me when and how it works?

Same here my folder is not

Same here my folder is not locked can anybody tell me about it

Second methods works real

Second methods works real fine, but the primary one didnt worked out in my PC. Might be due to the reason that I am using win 7 and he was using win XP.
Now the loophole in this thing is that when anybody know the location of this locker batch file, then he can easily edit this document and can change the password without your acknowledgement and can open the file.

well thanks for the information.
