The ZOPT2201 Sensor is known for integrating Ultraviolet Energy Sensor (UVS) and Ambient Light Sensor (ALS). The equipment can be easily connected through an 12C interface with an e=outer microcontroller. Other SMBus and 12C devices can easily be connected using the very same interface. The device also bears a programmable interrupt with a hysteresis that reacts to events and brings down the microcontroller tasks. These devices can majorly be used in smart phones and several other mobile handsets to give access to brightness control over screen panels (ALS), other diverse health care application as well as contextual awareness algorithms (UV).
Here are the major features of this sensor:
Very high UV energy sensitivity and ambient lighting.
Better suppression of infrared energy.
Very subtle spectral response to angle of light incidence.
A wide dynamic range.
Superior temperature compensation.
Linear measurement of UV index (1 to >11)
The integrated ALS resembles human eye very closely, therefore, it is capable of responsding to different light sources for high lux accuracy.
The ALS sensitivity is absolute in a range of 0.008 – 157000 lux.
Resolution of configurable ALS output: 13-20 bits.
ALS Analog gain within configurable limits: X1 – X18.
Linear ALS output code.
Keeps ALS immune from flickering over 50Hz/60Hz as well as fluorescent light.
Lowest repeat noise over conversion.
The 12C interface is capable enough to work on standard mode as well as fast mode of communication: it is compatible up to 1.8V logic.
The programmable interrupt function is available for UVS and ALS with both upper and lower end thresholds.
