Alliance Memory, a worldwide provider of LEGACY memory products, has launched a new line of high-speed CMOS mobile low power DDR2 (LPDDR2) SDRAMs. These devices have been released with densities of 1Gb, 2Gb, and 4Gb in the 134-ball package. A wide variety of power saving features is also available with the new offering like 1.2 V/1.8 V operating voltages, improved battery life in portable electronics, and high density enabling ultra-slim designs.
The new LPDDR2 SDRAMs offer reliable drop-in, pin-to-pin compatible replacements for a number of similar solutions in ultra-low-voltage cores and I/O power supplies for mobile devices like smartphones, tablets, etc. The ICs are available with auto temperature-compensated self-refresh (TCSR) to ensure minimal power consumption at lower ambient temperatures.
Device Specification Table
The devices are also equipped with partial-array self-refresh (PASR) feature that reduces power by refreshing critical data. Besides, there is a deep power down (DPD) mode providing an ultra-low power state when data retention is not needed.

The newly introduced SDRAMs feature a double data rate four-bit prefetch architecture and deliver high-speed operation clock rates of 400MHz and 533MHz available in the commercial and industrial temperature ranges of -30°C to +85°C and -40°C to +85°C respectively.
Moreover, the devices render programmable read or write burst lengths of 4, 8, or 16 and there is an auto pre-charge function that initiates a self-timed row pre-charge at the end of the burst sequence. Furthermore, the ICs are RoHS-compliant, free from lead (Pb) and halogen-free, and equipped with easy-to-use refresh functions including auto or self-refresh.
This extensive lineup of mobile low-power SDRAMs from Alliance Memory will help designers to meet the demand for reduced power consumption in portable electronics. The lineup includes 64M, 256M, 512M, and 1GB LPDDR1 SDRAMs and 16 GB LPDDR3 SDRAMs. Apart from these, the 8GB 256M X 32 LPDDR2 SDRAMs in the 134-ball FBGA package will also be rolled out soon in the market.
