Ametherm Announces a New Circuit Protection Thermistor with Industry’s Smallest Diameter

By Neha Rastogi

Ametherm has announced its latest circuit protection Thermistor packed with the industry’s smallest (UL-approved) diameter of 13 mm. It carries a maximum continuous current rating of 6.0 A and energy rating of 40 J.

Earlier designers had to rely on devices with larger diameters ranging from 15 mm to 25 mm to attain high current and energy ratings of the new SL12 10006. However, the new device is being offered in a 13 mm diameter with 5.5 mm of height. The device has benefits like less board space, low cost, faster reset times, limiting the excess of circuit board heat.

Owing to its compact size and high current rating, the SL12 10006 is an ideal device for appliance motors and fractional horsepower motor drives, 300 W- 600W switchmode power supplies, LED drivers, and small inverters utilized in recreational vehicles.

Moving on to the features, the Thermistor carries a resistance of 10.0 Ohms, the thermal time constant of 42 s, and dissipation constant of 13.5 mW/°C. Besides, it can handle body temperatures of up to 210°C at 100% of its maximum current rating.

Availability

The SL12 10006 circuit protection Thermistor can be availed either directly or through distributors such as Digi-Key and Mouser. The samples and production quantities are available with factory lead times of 8 weeks.
