An e-mobility lab for EV charging and education

There’s a new concept in India that aims to encourage greater electric vehicle (EV) use with the support of an advanced charging station. The “E-Mobility Tech Experience Center” is designed to support all types of EV ratings and configurations while helping drivers (and passengers!) better understand the broad ecosystem of EV charging solutions.

Delta Electronics recently unveiled its new tech lab in Gurugram, which will serve as an educational center and showcase center for various EV chargers.

“We are working toward delivering our deep industry expertise and engineering abilities to India to satisfy the highly demanding needs of the EV ecosystem professionals,” said Niranjan S Nayak, business head, Delta Electronics India.

This initiative supports the government’s long-term objective of making India fully electric by 2030. Delta plans to meet end-to-end charging needs and reduce any apprehensions around EV charging. Ultimately, it hopes to encourage faster adoption.

“We are striving to bring our deep industry expertise and engineering capacities to India to fulfil the highly demanding requirements of the EV ecosystem players,” said Nayak.

Through Delta’s “Powering Green Mobility” initiative, the company has carved a speciality for itself in EV charging solutions that meet international criteria. “This E-Mobility Tech Experience Centre will showcase our endeavors to provide innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions for a more reliable tomorrow,” added Nayak.

The Experience Center will offer:

Global technology adoption methodologies
Charging process simulation
Live presentations and demonstrations
Knowledge-sharing, including insight on charging methods and the integration of various software, hardware, and cloud servers.

The new center will also present Delta’s latest-generation charging solutions. These combine AC & DC EV chargers such as CCS, GB/T, ChadeMO along with OCA-certified testing tools, load simulators, charging process simulators, and the Charge Point Operator software platform.

“Our E-Mobility Tech Experience Centre is designed to bring forth transportation-to-grid solutions in India,” shared Akshaye Barbuddhe, the head of EV Charging Solution at Delta Electronics India. “Very soon, the possibility of combining renewable energy to EV charging solutions will also be a reality.”

The E-mobility lab aims to present an industry platform that will support all kinds of ratings and configurations. “We will be operating on a robust, scalable roadmap, with a concept to deliver on future-ready, efficient, and pioneering product and technology-related solutions to ecosystem needs,” added Barbuddhe.

The company is also managing partnerships to establish a charging foundation for two-wheelers, which shall be operational from H2 2020. In terms of the cost of charging for an individual customer, Barbuddhe revealed that it would be somewhere between Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000.

Delta also recently introduced new products including its DC City Charger, which enables a high-efficiency city charging service. It also launched AC Max, a smart AC charger that supports a maximum 22 kW output and offers a global charging interface.
