Athena personal security wearable to keep women safe

Our society is surrounded with anti-social elements that tend to target women in society. To escape from attacks, they do need a personal safety device for protection or at least to summon someone, when required. The device is in the form of a pendent that can be worn as a necklace or clipped to any item of clothing. This device somewhat resembles to fitness tracker, that detects track steps but Athena wearable does more than tracking steps, it can save a life.

To activate the device, keep holding the button for three seconds and then Athena sounds an 85db alarm and sends a message to pre-determined friends and family automatically. The sound range is the same decibel level as a freight train. Further, the contacts you have chosen will get your map showing your location, directions and the opportunity to call you or 911. The team is planning to execute the device to call 911 automatically.

Roar is the company behind Athena and is claiming that “an unanticipated loud noise can serve as an effective deterrent in certain circumstances.” The team is further planning to raise the volume of alarm even louder. It could be the best tool for women ad can get help when they are in danger. The company is not limiting itself to device but also looking to tackle the underlying social issues that lead to violence against women.

The unit is water-resistant in nature and provides a three month battery life. Further, it gets connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth in order to generate the GPS location and summon help via the app. the company holds the view that their profits are cycled back into non-profits at the front lines of impacting the larger cultural issues that cause this problem to exist in our society.
