Recently, FDK Corporation and Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd.jointly developed lithium cobalt pyrophosphate (Li2CoP2O7), which has high energy density, for the cathode material of all-solid lithium-ion batteries (*all-solid-state batteries). This material enables the development of all-solid-state batteries with higher voltage and higher capacity. In the recent years, not only the batteries’ specifications have become quite diverse but there has also been a hike in interest for high energy density and safety performance. Apart from the improvement on lithium-ion and other existing batteries, the developmental work is also being carried on certain types of next-generation batteries, which have the potential to outperform the existing ones.
Fujitsu Conducts Field Trials to Grasp Irrigation Water Levels, Improve Agricultural Productivity in Myanmar
Fujitsu today announced that it has conducted two types of field trials in which data on irrigation and river water levels could be easily managed. Fujitsu has now reported the results of the trials, which were conducted in the Taungoo region of Myanmar from late 2016 to January 31, 2017, to the trials’ cooperating authority, the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department of the Myanmar Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation. In these trials, farmers and on-site participants other than Irrigation Department personnel could check the water level of irrigation water in irrigation facilities and fields, as well as the water level of rivers, using the water level scales installed in various locations.
Fujitsu Adds IoT Utilization Functionality to GLOVIA ENTERPRISE MES, a Manufacturing Execution System
Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Advanced Engineering Limited today announced that FUJITSU Enterprise Application GLOVIA ENTERPRISE MES, a manufacturing execution system for customers in the assembly and manufacturing industry, has been enhanced by the addition of the new GLOVIA ENTERPRISE MES Smart Shop-Floor Option, which automatically collects and visualizes positional data of people and things in manufacturing facilities using beacons, as a service to promote the use of IoT in factories. The new Fujitsu Advanced Engineering-developed option is available in Japan beginning today. With this new option, data that previously had to be entered by hand, such as manufacturing performance on the factory floor, or inventory status, can be collected, aggregated, and visualized in real time using sensing technology and beacons.
Fujitsu Enables Secure Use of Cloud Services via IoT Devices Using a Smartphone’s Biometric Authentication
Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. today announced the development of a technology that enables safe and easy use of cloud services through IoT devices using the biometric authentication functionality of smartphones and near-field wireless functionality. In the era of IoT, various devices are connected to cloud services. When using these services such as parcel delivery lockers in apartments or public facilities, or when using car sharing services, user authentication will need to take place each time a service is used. With existing ID and password systems, users have to manage multiple IDs and passwords which make the authentication process cumbersome.
