Internet has become one our daily need for the next generation people, majority of them use their internet through Wi-Fi. Due to of greater demand, high traffic has been created in venues like airports, university campuses, office, stadiums, and much more. Wi-Fi in these venues creates a high volume usage that creates an extra-ordinary pressure on existing infrastructure.
The needs of Wi-Fi environment have grown, in both the number of subscribers and data acquired by devices with different capabilities. To mean a solution for it Broadcom designed a new dual channel 5 GHz WI-Fi access point platform for enterprise and public venue operators.
5G HD Wi-Fi Platform
The new 5G HD platform is built on the new BCM49408 quad-core CPU, enabling client devices to 5GHz, to maintain the fastest possible speeds by eliminating performance degradation that occurs when previous client devices are connected through traditional single channel 5 GHz Wi-Fi access points.
What’s New?
-
The new device is designed for dual band, and dual concurrent application platform. It works either in 2.4+5 or 5+5 GHz frequency range configurable RF for mainstream and high density modes.
-
It is enabled to support Tri – radio application, enabling all three bands of 2.4+5+5 GHz, for dedicated radio access they streamlined for 2.4GHz frequency, simultaneously supporting dual 5G capability.
This Broadcom’s new device is entirely concentric on high density environments. With the 5G HD platform, the latest generation 5G enabled 11ac capable laptops, tablets, and smartphones can enjoy the fastest access possible while client devices can maintain the performance.
Specifications
The new 5G HD platform is built on BCM49408 CPU, it coupled with ARM v8 compliant 64bit quad core design clocked at 1.8GHz per core and delivers an excess 5 Gbps throughput. The low power design of BCM49408 CPU integrates five GE PHYs and a switch to access for the LAN cable, as well as it support a 2.5G Ethernet PHYs for enhanced backhaul needs. The new 5G HD also supports Broadcom’s latest generation “Wave-2” 802.11 ac 4X4 radios that offer a support for 160Mhz channels, and up to eight concurrent multi user Multi-Input and Multi-Output (MIMO) performance in dual 5G mode. The BCM43465 also features in Broadcom’s industry leading Rangeboost technology, which is margined at a range of 6dB.
As per Mathias Machowinski, Senior research director Enterprise Networks, “Till the date, many organizations continue to support 2.4GHz users, but our extensive research shows that there’s an absolute movement towards the use of 5GHz”, “Configurable radios allow companies to deploy a new Wi-Fi infrastructure that can easily adopt for the changing network connected users and devices, and additional 5GHz capacity is right for them to add without replacing the equipment”.
