Renesas Electronics Corporation recently launched the RL78/G14 Fast prototyping board. This one is a function and feature-rich, cost-effective board that enables speedy product development for all kinds of IoT endpoint equipment.
This product is expected to reach in the list of most recommended products for its ability to enable users with quick response to rapidly changing technology and market requirements. It shrinks the time-to-market window for all the latest products. Along with, the global leader also released the RL78/G1D BLE Module Expansion Board.
This board can be used in combination with the new prototyping board. The users can also add Bluetooth® Low Energy wireless communication function smoothly.
Where does it come from?
The new prototyping board is derived from the RL78/G14 MCU (microcontroller). This MCU is known for providing the users with the most versatile set of functions in the power-optimized RL78 Family. These features make it an ideal choice for motor control in IoT sensors, portable equipment, building automation, health care equipment, industrial equipment, and home appliances.
Features
● Very affordable.
● On-board emulator circuit with functions similar to E2 Emulator.
● Eliminates the need to buy any additional debugging tools.
● Offers access to all RL78/G14 signal pins.
● Includes Pmod and Arduino interfaces to pave way for simple functional expansion.
● By combining this prototyping board with Semtech SX1262 or SX1261 LoRa transceiver allows prototyping for IoT sensor devices with wireless communications based on LoRa with longer period battery drive.
● Along with the board, you also get part lists, circuit diagrams, user manuals, and other things required to jump-start the development.
The RL78/G14 is being offered for a price of US$20 per unit while the RL78/G1D BLE Module Expansion Board can be availed for US$25.
A word about
RL78/G14 Microcontrollers The RL78/G14 MCUs are the most powerful units in the RL78 family. These are capable of reaching the numerical processing performance of 51.2 DMIPS @32MHz. They also provide functions like 8-bit D/A converters and timers.
Specifically, these microcontrollers can easily achieve the lowest current drain in the industry even when the CPU is running or at standby mode.
According to Noriaki Nakanishi, VP of MCU Device Solution Business Division, IoT and Infrastructure Business Unit at the Renesas Electronics: “The rate of IoT equipment evolution is increasing and the ability to realize and prototype new ideas has become a critical point for business success or failure. The new prototyping board will allow our customers to jump-start development, and will contribute to timely market entry of new products and customers’ business success.”
