Sony, the Japan-based electronics giant, recently turned heads at the CES 2020 with the introduction of its first electronic car. It is a one-of-its-kind electric concept sedan, called the Sony Vision-S.
Sony is known for its innovative technologies, such as camera sensors and entertainment products, and the Vision-S is no exception. It’s being considered one of the best technologies Sony has developed to date.
Features
Vision-S features 33 types of sensors, 360-degree audio, always-on connectivity option, and multiple widescreen displays. The vehicle also borrows certain features from major electronic giants, such as Bosch, Qualcomm, Nvidia, and Blackberry. For example, it uses a new EV platform specially designed by automotive supplier Magna.
The sensors in the car were added to ensure an exceptional safety level. They will keep the driver alert from road hazards with the help of a lane departure warning system (LDWS) and are even capable of detecting driver fatigue.
Slight modification to these sensors would make the vehicle completely autonomous, which is an option for future models. Vision-S’ EV platform is only also capable of powering future SUV models.
In terms of design and look, the Vision-S closely resembles Porsche. However, it is unclear if Sony plans to put this vehicle in mass production or not. But the prototype is clear that Sony has big plans for its future technologies.
