Instructables, in this tutorial, has made a cool wearable device that activate lights when you stop moving and as soon as you move, the lights turn off. So basically, this project brings Loading Wheel to real-life. For this project, all you need is access to a laser cutter, Acrylic Clear, 1/8 “Acrylic Black, NeoPixel Ring from Adafruit, or individually addressable RGB LED, Accelerometer, analog, Gemma or any small Micro controller with at least 1 Digital Pin and 1 Analog Pin, Small Lipo Battery and some wires and screws.
To start with, some acrylicsare first cut into 6 circles. Here the front Disk acts as Black Arctic and for light diffuser, 1/4″ Clear Acrylic is required and same for neopixel Ring Holder. For Electronic Housing, we need two 1/4″ Clear Acrylic and for Back Cover, a Black Arctic is required. Assure that the NeoPixel Ring fits tightly. Now, take a sandpaper or a sandblaster to blast the surface of light diffuser.
After cutting, now assemble the Electronics. With the help of 3M double sided tape, glue all layers together, from layer 1 to 5. For layer 6, screw it with others. Make sure that everything fit nicely in the housing area. Establish connections with Gemma to Lipo battery jack. This makes it easy to assemble. Next connect Neopixl’s Data Input to Gemma’s D0 and Neopixel’s GND to Gemma’s GND simultaneously.
Once Gmeea’sVoutis connected to the Neopixel’s 5V DC Power, the Accelerometer’s GND is connected to GND and VCC to 3V. With this, the Accelerometer’s X, Y, or Z pin is connected to A1. After the wiring is done, housing is closed with 4 screws and a string is attached to make it wearable. For programing, Arduino Sketch is based on Neopixel’s library and can acquire this in rainbow color or different pattern when “deactivated”.
