Double Density (DD) Cable Assemblies

By Sponsored Content July 1, 2024

Amphenol Commercial QSFP Double Density (DD) Cable Assemblies provide a 200G / 400G / 800G solution by doubling the number of channels from 4 to 8 lanes compared to existing 100G QSFP cabling systems. This feature enables more bandwidth within the same mechanical envelope. These copper cable assemblies are compatible with 25G/lane NRZ up to 112G/lane PAM4 signaling protocols, enabling the delivery of aggregate bandwidths of 200G, 400G, and 800G per cable assembly.

The QSFP DD assemblies are available in both passive and active variants, with 112G passive cable lengths up to 2m and 112G active cable lengths up to 4m. Other features include backward mating compatibility with QSFP receptacles and an optimized PCB interface board with auto-soldering processes. These cables are assembled with twin-axial SKEWCLEAR® 8-pair or 16-pair wire for softer and improved bending performance over standard cables.

Amphenol Commercial QSFP DD Cable Assemblies are ideal for communications and data applications such as routers, switches, external storage systems, servers, and more.

Features:

  • Addresses current and future market desired bandwidth port capability requirements
  • Configurable and flexible
  • Backwards plug capability to 100G, seamless transition to future higher aggregate bandwidth
  • Assembled with industry-leading twin-axial SKEWCLEAR® 8-pair or 16-pair wire for softer and improved bending performance over standard cables
  • Optimized PCB interface board with auto-soldering process
  • EEPROM in cable assembly is programmable to requirements
  • Optimized cost, performance, cable bulk, and routing solutions
  • Compatible with existing 100G QSFP-based connector ports (with heat sinks and/or light pipes) as well as 200G / 400G / 800G ports
  • 10W to 12W single-port dissipative heat capacity enables the use of copper and optical-based cabling solutions

Applications:

  • Data
    • Data center networking
    • External storage systems
    • High-performance computing (HPC)
    • Networked storage systems
    • Servers
  • Communications
    • Low-latency communication systems
    • Network interface cards (NICs)
    • Routers
    • Switches

Specifications:

  • 25G NRZ / 56G PAM4 / 112G PAM4 data rate
  • 32AWG to 25AWG cable sizes
  • 112G passive cable lengths up to 2m
  • 112G active cable lengths up to 4m
  • 200G, 400G, or 800G aggregate bandwidth capacity, dual 8-pair or single 16-pair wire supported
