EMIS has released the TPQH3411 passive harmonic filter for three-phase power systems. The filter is designed to maintain total harmonic current distortion in compliance with IEEE 519 requirements for current and voltage.
The TPQH3411 uses resistors, inductors, and capacitors to suppress harmonic currents and voltages generated by non-linear loads, including variable frequency drives, uninterruptible power supplies, and rectifiers. The filter is tuned to specific harmonic orders such as third, fifth, seventh, and eleventh harmonics, providing low-impedance paths at those frequencies. Capacitive elements provide reactive power compensation for power factor correction.
The filter operates at 415 volts AC and 50 hertz. Power ratings range from 1.1 kilowatts to 250 kilowatts. Floor and wall mounting options are available.
Applications include variable frequency drives in industrial equipment, robotics, conveyors, high-power pumps, blowers, motor drives, uninterruptible power supply systems, switch-mode power supplies, crushers, rolling mills, compressors, offshore drilling systems, elevators, lighting with electronic ballasts, and inverter-based renewable energy systems. Industries served include cement, paper, and steel manufacturing.
The filter reduces overheating, mechanical stress, and vibrations in motors and transformers caused by harmonic distortion.
