We already told you about Eye Writer, developed in 2009 by Mick Ebling and how cool it is. Well now, it is time for Eye Write 2.0. It has improved the accuracy of its predecessor and allows people, with head movement, also to use the eye tracker. Whereas, the Eye Writer, could only be used on a completely motionless head.
Eye Writer 2.0 is open source and much cheaper as compared to the commercial eye trackers. This one can be built in about $200, whereas the other one costs, anywhere between $9000 to $20,000. You of course, need a lot of parts for this DIY, but it’s all going to be worth it. To download the complete list, check out the source link.
You will be starting with illuminating the sides and the center of the screen, with LED and hacking the PS3 eye camera and making it sensitive to IR. Program and build the arduino to control the blinking and then getting your hands dirty with the software.
You can get a detailed instruction list in the source link, given below. Follow it step by step and you could have your very own, Eye Writer 2.0!
