Tektronix, an industry leading innovator of video quality monitoring solutions, announced the industry’s first end to end HEVC test solutions. It provides a deep insight into 4K workflow and enable cable operators, broadcasters and other service providers to make a seamless transition to 4K. The new test and diagnostic tool will be demonstrated in Las Vegas at the NAB show taking place April 18th to 21st.
Delivering a 4K content to the home is nearly a challenging transition. Operators need to ensure that the encoders they are using are doing the job perfectly. Even they have to be sure of regulatory requirements and the quality of experience (QoE) should be the best for the end customer.
The new extensions for MTS4000 and MTS4SAV3 test platforms, includes comprehensive HEVC analysis tools and a closed caption analyzer for ensuring FCC compliance, which allows operators to transition to 4K for their convenience with minimal impact to workflow, staff, infrastructure and budget.
Charlie Dunn, general manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix said “The transition to 4k workflows will happen over a period of years, but it’s not a question of it will happen, it’s about when?. At the same time, ensuring compliance with FCC regulations, has become more difficult than ever as new requirements are added to the mix”. “With the addition of new 4K technology and close caption tools, we are leading the industry and stepping up to help customers through this difficult transition”.
In addition to the HEVC support for content distribution, Tektronix is also featuring to assist set top box (STB) manufacturers who require the ability to create a custom 4K and HEVC transport streams to test 4K on STBs. Using the MTS4000, manufacturers can now create 4K transport streams from elementary streams and system information tables with custom parameters. The MTS4000 provides a comprehensive transport stream analysis and interoperability testing. Its deep analysis of the transport systems, PES, and elementary streams helps track down sources of picture anomalies and identify the transport streams with syntax errors. Its ability to capture events for in depth and troubleshooting at critical times to identify the root cause of problems.
