Fujitsu has announced to launch a new version of Fujitsu Manufacturing Industry Solution Virtual Product and Process Simulator (VPS), a digital production preparation tool developed by Digital Process Ltd. It supports product assembly process studies with 3D models. In addition, VPS can integrate on-site production processes by rapidly updating assembly process information which keeps changing owing to the design modifications and on-site improvements.
It’s a software package that supports the user in smoothly setting up mass production and uses 3D model data for products created with CAD to cover necessary tasks in preparing for production. These tasks include examining the product assembly process, reviewing the manufacturing line layouts, creating documents used in manufacturing, and validating control software for production equipment.
With the launch, Fujitsu is going to offer the manufacturing instruction viewer in order to use data made in the VPS, like assembly sequences and process flows. By connecting the manufacturing instruction viewer to a picking system or other tools being used, it collects the task performance information.

Key Features
1. VPS can rearrange CAD structures into assembly sequences, create assembly animations, attach process detail, and compile it into BOP information. With the ability to display differences in shapes and color differentiation functionality to the design change support function, the assembly process information can be regularly created as well as updated.
2. For products like laptops, Fujitsu has developed functionality to collate components included in all specifications of a product and process information, along with shape information, in one VPS file.
3. The BOM-CAD allocation functionality for large vehicles can create assembly process information based on bill of materials (BOM) information displaying a complete list of components and their configuration.
4. With the delivery of easy-to-understand task instructions through animations on display instead of previous task instruction books on paper, it’s possible to complete the assembly tasks efficiently without relying on skills of the worker.
