Infineon Technologies AG has introduced the OPTIGA™ Trust M MTR, a new Secure Element certified by the Matter standard to bolster security and simplify interoperability in smart home and building devices. This latest addition to the OPTIGA Trust M series comes with a Matter provisioning service, addressing the challenges of integrating robust security features into IoT products.
As smart home devices proliferate — expected to reach 1.7 billion by 2030 according to ABI Research — Matter’s uniform security and privacy measures ensure these devices can connect securely across various ecosystems. The OPTIGA Trust M MTR enhances this security, offering flexibility for manufacturers with its easy integration into MCU-based designs and support for multiple product protocols.
The device features a Device Attestation Certificate (DAC) for verifying authenticity within the Matter ecosystem, streamlining the manufacturing process by allowing personalized DAC injection up until production start. Pre-provisioned at Infineon’s certified facility, the Secure Elements are claimed via Kudelski IoT’s portal, facilitating the download of production DACs.
Samples of OPTIGA Trust M MTR are currently available, with broad market availability starting March 2024. Infineon provides extensive support, including design-in application notes and training for security products, without the need for an NDA.
