TDK Corporation has announced a collection of InvenSense sensing solutions designed for smart home applications that require detection of presence, proximity, sound, tilt, liquid levels, acceleration, and motion. The company’s sensor portfolio includes MEMS microphones, IMUs, and ultrasonic time-of-flight sensors that provide data for AI-enabled home technology applications, including smart speakers, remote controls, appliances, thermostats, lighting systems, robotic vacuums, security cameras, alarms, and door locks.
TDK will demonstrate its MEMS and magnetic sensor solutions at Sensors Converge 2025, taking place June 25-26 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in booth #722. The company’s sensing solutions target the connected smart home market with applications spanning various household and security devices.
The company offers custom sensing solutions for smart home applications through its partner-focused approach. These custom solutions include TDK’s SmartMotion IMUs with sensor fusion algorithms, such as the ICM-42670-S designed for smart TV remotes and the ICM-42370-P for tilt detection in appliances, including washing machines.
TDK’s smart home solutions available through global distributors include the SmartSonic ICU-30201 ultrasonic time-of-flight sensor for presence detection in lighting, security cameras, and locks. The distributor portfolio also features SmartSound MEMS microphones T5848, T5838, and T5837 with low power consumption and acoustic activity detection capabilities for alarms, smart speakers, intercoms, and voice-activated controls. The SmartMotion ICM-45605 provides angle detection for security applications such as smart door locks.
The SmartSonic ultrasonic time-of-flight ICU-30201 is now available through multiple distributors worldwide and addresses contextual awareness requirements in products needing presence, proximity, and distance measurements. Applications include household robotics, drones, alarm devices, door locks, camera devices, and smart building systems. The sensor incorporates an on-chip processor with computational capabilities while maintaining low power consumption for energy efficiency. The ICU-30201 comes in a compact package measuring 5.17 x 2.68 x 0.9 mm³. Additional SmartSonic models, ICU-20201 and ICU-10201, are also available through global distribution channels.
