Quality sleep is not based on the no of hours devoted to sleep but it is about the time we spend in the stages of sleep that restores and energize our bodies. Among different stages, deep sleep, the most critical stage, is responsible for letting us feel refreshed when we wake up. Sound sleep also helps to rebuild muscle, improves mental reaction time, makes workouts more effective, in fact, a day’s performance is based on the type of sleep.
The makers of a new sleep gadget called as the Sleep Shepherd Blue have addressed all these issues. As comparison to other sleep trackers that records how much you slept or wake you up at a specific stage of your sleep cycle, the Sleep Shepherd Blue uses brain-training sounds to help people get an extremely deep night’s sleep.
Michael Larson, an entrepreneur and mechanical engineer, began working on the Sleep Shepherd. It is an effective tools for person who have sleeping disorders and is free from pharmaceuticals. He decided to develop an effective tool that was drug-free and directly intervene to support better sleep. He came with a Sleep Shepherd hat firstly and now the sleeker, smaller headband version is called Sleep Shepherd Blue.
This band actually plays sounds called binaural beats playing in each ear of the headband. They are subtle humming noises and are said to lull the brain into a meditative sort of state and into deep sleep. But there are number of apps and online streaming systems that plays binaural beats to help you sleep. The Sleep Shepherd Blue don’t necessarily play the beats directly into your ears but these beats improve perceived sleep quality
The headband measures brain waves as well and works according to it. For instance, if it senses waves are speeding up toward wakefulness, it will play beats designed to guide you back to sleep for the night. It creates a natural environment route for anyone who wants to avoid sleep medicines. The headband is connected to an app that can track your hours of sleep each night and shows you how long you spent in each stage.
