The MAX17222 nanoPower boost regulator from Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. carries industry’s highest efficiency and lowest quiescent current of only 300nA. With this, the regulator delivers the longest battery life in the smallest form factor for wearable and consumer IoT designs.
Moving on, the booster’s 0.4V to 5.5V input and 1.8V to 5V output with 500mA input current limit reduces the solution size by upto 50% as compared to other similar products. Besides, it offers 95% peak efficiency to minimize heat dissipation. Such benefits are ideal for wearables, which as per IDC forecasts, are going to witness a compound annual growth rate of 18.4% in the year 2020.

The MAX17222 not only offers the lowest quiescent current but also minimises shutdown current and heat dissipation. In True Shutdown mode, the minuscule current draw of 0.5nA virtually puts an end to battery drain and removes the need for external disconnect switches.
In addition, Maxim’s regulator dramatically reduces the solution size as compared to other similar products. It’s internally compensated and needs only a single configuration resistor alongside a small output filter for a full power solution.

For convenience in use, the boost regulator is offered in tiny, density-optimised 0.88mm x 1.4mm 6-Bump WLP and 2mm x 2mm 6-Pin standard uDFN packages. It works over the temperature range of -40 degree Celsius to +85 degree Celsius.
