First things first, this projects exposes you to electric and fire hazards and requests you to wear goggles, during cutting/soldering. Once that is taken care of, get ready to be amazed! This really cool DIY lets you make your own rotating DNA Helix lamp. The creator has used glow in the dark filament for the DNA Helix to stand out, LEDs fade in and out into different colours to give a cool visual effect and a push button to rotate the DNA structure.
You also have an extensive list of material you’l need for this project; it includes LEDs, resistors, ATmega328P Microcontroller apart from other things. You can get the complete list of materials, tools and skills needed for this DIY from the link, given below. (And also how to obtain some of the things needed from old devices.)
It is a great project to brush up your 3D printing skills. You can innovate with the shape of the lamp or download the STL file. You will need around 15 hours to print all the parts. But once you’re done, you can start straight away by fixing the motor, wiring the LEDs. You obviously need an Arduino, but with basic configurations, the code used to configure the whole thing has been given in the guide.
This might seem like a tedious project. But if you follow the steps closely, you’ll be just fine. Each and every aspect has been described with pictures and text, alike. So even if you’re new here, you’ll have fun while doing it. See the video, for more motivation.
