The Tektronix, the world’s leading manufacturer of Oscilloscopes has come up with the P7700 series of TriModeTM probes for Tektronix oscilloscopes which offer a bandwidth up to 20 GHz. The new probes ease the challenges faced by the designers when debugging circuits found in mobile and enterprise designs – by minimizing probe loading, improving access to smaller, more-densely packed test locations and this also reduces the overall cost.
The new P7700 Series are well suited for test solutions and high-performance oscilloscopes which allow the designers to probe low-power devices and achieve a convenient signal access. The probe’s input amplifier is located less than 4mm from the connection point which helps to reduce the signal loss, probe tip capacitance and noise. The signal path of this probe is characterized and automatically de-embedded from the measurement results.
Connections to high speed signals require the Engineers to attach probe tips by soldering to a small component on a circuit board. If the size of the component is very small, then attaching the probe tip can add stress to the component and the circuit board. To capture the signals on multiple lanes, many probe connections are required. The P7700 series probes are the better solution for this problem because it uses the compact solder tips that fit into tight spots to minimize the impact on the small size components on the board. So, by using this probe, the stress added to the components or the circuit board can be reduced.
The P7700 series probes introduce the new TekFlex™ connector which supports a wide range of accessories. The TekFlex connector and accessories are designed in such a way that it would be easy to attach and at the same time provide the user with a reliable and secure connection. This connector and accessories have a small LED that lights up to confirm connectivity from the scope to the accessory tip.
Every P7700 series probe has a low-cost solder tip. These tips support full bandwidth performance for the probes and their low replacement price helps to reduce the cost of the probe.
