Fujitsu Comes Up With a No-Touch Biometric Integration Technology That Promotes A Cashless Society

Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. recently announced its success in development of an integrated, non-contact, integrated biometric authentication technology that will be able to identify a subject with their facial and palm vein data. The technology was developed in association with Fujitsu R&D Center Co. It takes us a little closer to the concept of cashless society.

For enabling biometric verification to confirm identity of person in question at old-fashioned shops or getting into events venues, the system would need to streamline data from a large volume of registered biometric data backups across scale of a million users. The system also needed to narrow down the person in question by the cards they used and other relevant data that was part of their digital footprint. For a normal system this could have been a herculean task and most of the time completely out of scope. However, Fujitsu simplified the problem by developing a new technology that supports smooth payment process. Under this system, the user would only need to hold their hands over a given terminal while the identity of given person would be narrowed down using their facial image.

The technology is set to play a key role in wallet-free payments eliminating any need to show up IDs. Further details about this technology were announced at the upcoming International Conference on Image Processing 2018 that was held in Athens yesterday.
