Actor Margot Robbie, Nissan’s new Electric Vehicle (EV) ambassador, recently showcased a prototype of a completely new sports car prototype on a closed Monaco street circuit. BladeGlider has astounding drifting ability and it will be showcased in a new movie that stars Robbie. The model that was put up for demonstrations showed a highly developed chassis structure that has a narrow front track and a wider rear track for better handling stability and aerodynamic efficiency.
The car also sports a rear-hinged, high waisted pair of dihedral doors that join the open roof upon closing. The complete roof features an integrated and reinforced roll-over protection framework. The dashboard of BladeGlider display state of battery charge, Torque map, regeneration mode, and speed. The central display is guarded with two screen that receive images from the rear-view cameras located right behind the front wheels. The dual screen present a technical alternative for the door mounted rear view mirrors improving the overall aerodynamic efficiency of the car. The driver gets seated in the arrowhead formation that is little ahead of the two passengers.
The car runs on 100 percent electric power, to take the performance two steps ahead Nissan partnered with UK-based Williams Advanced Engineering. It is capable of sprinting at a maximum speed of 190kmph and glides from 0-100kmph speed level in much less than five seconds. It supports a rear-wheel drive system that extracts power from a pair of 130kW electric motors each supporting one wheel. The system also features torque vectoring which controls the torque sent to the driven wheels. It means that if the car begins to understeer added torque will be sent to the outer wheel so that handling balance is restored automatically. This system has three modes: drift, agile, and off. An amazing creature, it is a car worthy of its name.
