The largest supplier of automotive semiconductors, NXP Semiconductors, recently introduced S32G vehicle network processors. These new processors revolutionize the process of vehicle framework designing and implementation.
The S32G processors are the youngest and newest members of NXP’s S32 processors family. These new devices play a pivotal role in shifting the automotive industry’s criteria to high-performance domain-based vehicle frameworks.
They also simplify typical software complexities and simultaneous enhancement of vehicle safety and security. It should support carmakers and OEMs with data-driven services and better business opportunities.
Application
The upcoming generations of connected vehicles will demand a drastic shift in security and performance levels to yield data-driven opportunities. These new S32G processors will pull automotive networking to a completely new level through secure management data transmission for vehicles. They will also ensure better protection of critical safety applications.
Most importantly, the S32G processors represent the world’s first integration of the conventional MCUs with ASIL D functional safety support, network acceleration, and high-performance application processors.
The S32G274A is currently available for sampling. More details about the product can be obtained from NXP’s official website.
Key Attributes
- Safety: The S32G processors provide complete ASIL D capabilities including industry’s first lock-step clusters of Arm Cortex-A53 application cores, lock-step Arm Cortex-M7 microcontroller cores, etc. Collectively, these features will enhance automotive safety by supporting newer performance levels and larger memory support.
- Performance: These new processors offer ASIL D MPU and MCU performance along with application-specific network hardware acceleration capable of offloading processors to offer valued services with deterministic network performance.
- Security: Just like all other S32 platform processors, the S32G processors embed high-performance hardware security acceleration along with with PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) support for most trustworthy key management.
