OMNIVISION has announced the OX08D20, an 8-megapixel CMOS image sensor with TheiaCel technology for automotive exterior cameras. The device is designed for advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving applications. The OX08D20 succeeds the OX08D10 sensor launched in 2023.
The OX08D20 includes a capture scheme developed in collaboration with Mobileye that reduces the motion blur of nearby objects during vehicle operation and improves low-light performance. The sensor operates at 60 frames per second, which allows the device to function in dual-use camera configurations. The device supports MIPI CSE 2.0 cybersecurity protocols.
The sensor maintains the low-light performance characteristics and power consumption levels of the OX08D10. The OX08D20 uses an a-CSP package that measures 50 percent smaller than other exterior sensors in its class. This package size affects the physical footprint requirements for camera module integration.
The device addresses thermal performance requirements for automotive applications and includes LED flicker mitigation functionality. These characteristics affect image quality in variable lighting conditions and temperature environments encountered in automotive installations.
The OX08D20 will be available for sampling in November 2025. Mass production is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
