“Lightning”, one of the most uncanny and unpredictable wonders of Mother Nature. The ancestors have felt the terror and occult from this and explorer minds that of Benjamin Franklin have tried to discover the science and more out of it. However, the high voltage restrictions have kept this beautiful concept aloof from the hobbyist. While it is quite justified to stay away from Nature’s thunder, a team of hobbyists has made their own controllable version of lightning which can be used right in your room.
Named as oneTesla, this is a DIY kit whose end result is a solid state coil which not only creates electronic sparks, but also becomes your speaker and an electronics teacher.
FYI, this kit does not contain any speaker or an instruction LCD screen to solve the applications mentioned above. Making it a DIY kit with open source licensing gives it enough of a caliber to act as an electronics learning kit. As far as the speaker is concerned, there is a port which accepts MIDI inputs and generates plasma discharge (i.e. Lightning). In other words, you can make the thunder of skies hum the music of your favorite song.
For producing the lightning effect in your room, the gadget does use a lot of power and has a “High Voltage” warning on its chassis. A heavy electronic circuitry containing of IGBT, transformers and IEC power jack has been built to make oneTesla do the wonders it has been designed to. To take out the heat generated, a fan has also been coupled to the machine. It is for the very same reasons that this DIY requires one to have an advanced level of learning. Under guided supervision for newbies, oneTesla, is one must have gadget for those who learn by doing.
