Known as the Qualcomm 9205 LTE, it is a very unique device that represents a combination of best innovations that are needed for creating cellular based IoT services and products in a single chipset.
All the unique features present in this modem happen to be a basic requirement for IoT based services and products including NB2 (NB-IoT) and global multimode LTE category M1 (eMTC) along with 2G/E-GPRS connectivity, support for cloud services, hardware-based security, geolocation, as well as application processing.
As compared to its predecessor, this modem has been structured to bring down power usage upto 70% in standard mode, it is one of the most important considerations for battery empowered IoT devices needing to work for upcoming decade on more than that on the field.
The Qualcomm 9205 LTE model is approx. half a size of the predecessor and much more cost-effective as compared to the previous version. This makes it perfect for IoT based applications needing wide-area, low-power connectivity as a small form factor device.
Thi new modem is also compatible with all latest and previous IoT solutions created by Qualcomm which means manufacturers can now reuse software investments for development of new module solutions.
The highlighting features of this LTE 9205 model are as follows:
● It is a global multimode LTE IoT modem that offers universal connectivity. It supports 3GPP release 14 category M1 and NB2 for working with networks with the help of any LTE IoT modes.
● Embedded with RF transceiver that has a completely integrated front end. The bandwidth supported falls between 450 MHz – 2100 MHz.
● More efficient battery life management.
● Features like Arm Cortex A7 upto 800MHz, support for AliOS Things and ThreadX real-time OS, and integrated global support for GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems).
