STMicroelectronics has introduced its miniature SensorTile sensor board of its type and is claimed to be the smallest turnkey sensor board as of now. It comprises an MEMS accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, microphone and pressure sensor. Equipped with the on-board low-power STM32L4 microcontroller, the device can be utilised as a sensing and connectivity hub for developing products including gaming accessories, wearables and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
The kit consists of a cradle board carrying 13.5 mm x 13.5 mm SensorTile core system in standalone or hub mode which can be used as a reference design. The board contains a humidity and temperature sensor, a micro-SD card socket and a lithium-polymer battery (LiPo) charger. Besides, there is also a LiPo rechargeable battery and a plastic case that offers a convenient housing for the whole package.
The cradle is available with an analog audio output, micro-USB connector, and an Arduino like interface. This interface can be plugged into any STM32 Nucleo board to expand developers’ options for system and software development. Other specs are enlisted below -:
