At some point in time, we all have resolved to wake up with the very first rays of the sun. To watch the pleasing, muted colors of dawn, the slow and steady rise of the orange sun in the sky, to listen to the chirpings of morning birds; and perhaps also to do some exercise or yoga. But more often than not, we have failed, and we have given up.
Jon-A-Tron gave himself a second chance. He designed a “sunshine alarm”. Using LittleBits, a smart phone and a handy tool kit, he programmed a USB powered DC motor based DIY to work for him as an alarm. His cloudBit alarm logic is:
IF: Time = (any time) THEN: Set output level of cloudBit to 100 for 20 seconds.
An IFTTT clock is used which is configured with a cloudBit app but the author says one can use Google Calendar or iOS reminders to the same effect.
The whole DIY is housed in a plywood enclosure and hung by the window.
The video for DIY is nicely shot and professionally edited. In less than half a minute, it is shown how the littlebits parts are assembled and configured to create a neat looking sunshine alarm.
