This is Juan Pablo’s brain child, where he wanted to understand how the GPIOs function, present in Windows. It can measure high or low using capacitance of the capacitpor. He has given exact guidelines and pin designs to measure a resistor with a capacitor, which serves as a tester. Once he got that right, he changed the resistor with the thermistor; his theory being, it acts like ‘a resistor that changes its value with the temperature’.
You can find the hardware code in the blog below, complete with methods to charge and discharge and reading changes. You are free to experiment because Pablo will soon be replacing the SENSORS, like humidity, water level, etc. He made a few interesting observations at the end of it; he saw that since the inertia is low, it can detect changes really quickly. Accuracy is also not too great. And he could only record from 0 degree C to 25 degree C. Definitely not enough to measure today’s temperature. But beat the heat, with this cool DIY.
