The Renesas Electronics Corporation, the premier supplier of advanced Semiconductor solutions has come up with the RX24T group of 32-bit Microcontroller to fulfil the demands for better energy efficiency, high – precision control, reduced board size and shorter development time.
In this new Microcontroller, RXv2 CPU core is used to provide double performance comparable to the previous RX23T and 30 percent reduced development time. Many new features are introduced to increase the performance and energy efficiency in the equipments and household appliances.
This new product has six new devices with pin counts from 80 to 100 pins, the capacity of on-chip flash memory is from 128 kilobytes to 256 kilobytes (KB). The RX24T group enables simultaneous inverter control of multiple motors with a single chip and are also suited for permanent magnet AC motor control (PMAC) which is used in a variety of applications. RX24T groups also offers up to 160 DMIPs, it has dedicated analog functions to optimize the inverter Bill of Material (BoM) and at low cost, it increases the arithmetic operations and motor – control peripheral functions.
The Renesas also planned to provide a 24V motor control evaluation kit which supports both single motor control (RX23T) and multi – motor control (RX24T).
Key Features
-
With on – chip FPU functionality for faster code execution, RX24T supports high – performance, multi – motor control for development of platforms with a board range of products.
The RX24T has RXv2 CPU core with a five stage pipeline, a floating point unit (FPU) and DSP functions, to provide accurate algorithm calculations, within a single instruction multiplies of 32- bit execution is done. The FPU enables the overall code to be reduced and software implementations are executed faster.
The RX24T Microcontroller maintains the excellent compatibility with the RX23T group.
-
Renesas flexible motor control development solution and tools allow one – day evaluation of Sensorless vector control
Renesas has developed a flexible 24V motor control evaluation kit which can be used with the RX23T and RX24T. By using this developer can quickly evaluate motor control applications and allows development work to get underway with less effort.
-
Fewer external components for small printed circuit boards
The RX24T integrates on – chip external circuits required by inverter control systems such as op – amps supporting simultaneous four-channel amplification of three-shunt and one-shunt currents, comparators capable of over current detection of amplified current, sample and hold circuits that can handle up to five channels simultaneously. This dramatically reduces the mounting area needed on the PCBs.
Availability
The RX24T samples are available now, the huge production has begun and it is expected to reach 500,000 units per month by July 2017.
