Mobile systems can now enhance their performance to highest levels per watt along with system efficiency for computationally intensive deep-learning SoCs (System-on-Chip), application processors, and FPGAs through Maxim Integrated Products Inc.’s Power Management ICs (PMICs). These PMICs are filled feature rich with scalable power management and high-performance.
Named as MAX77714 and MAX77752, these PMICs address a wide application spectrum that ranges from Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), solid state drives (SSDs), gaming, to Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, as well as handheld devices like home automation hub and cameras. These PMICs have been designed to deliver some of the most astounding benefits like consumption of 40 percent less power than the ideal ones and so forth. The PMICs are capable of the battery life while offering one of the most compact factors on the planet.
Computational power has been on rise in the consumer electronics since designers have been moving towards higher performing SoCs and application processors for a wide range of mobile handsets. However, users expect their battery operated electronics that need to stay cool for longer duration. Designers face the biggest challenge of bringing down component cost and board space of devices while delivering flexible power sequencing, high horsepower, and high efficiency.
The high-performance PMICs from Maxim provide complete power management inside single-chip solutions so that application processors are able to operate at highest levels and deliver and high quality user experience. The two PMICs can integrate myriad of features giving designers a way to bring down system cost and solution footprint.
Kevin Anderson, the senior analyst in Power IC Research at IHS markit, adds, “As consumer electronics increasingly adopt higher performance processors to meet the demands of compute-heavy applications like augmented reality and machine learning, there is also a drive to improve power efficiency and reduce form factor. High-performance, highly integrated PMICs play an important role for designers in this market, which we estimate will grow from $291 million in 2017 to $419 million in 2021.”
