What can you do with a radio of the pre-world war 2 days? Give it to a museum? Decorate it in your living room as most precious possession? Sell it on ebay for good dinner (harsh!!). Let us help you here: make an ipod/iphone dock with here. Ok, interesting……but how? What on earth could make a 70+year old gadget work like a dock for one of the smartest phones on the planet? One answer: technology. One which has the power to make such gadget is the one to revive it too.
Shown in this blog post is one such ancient radio gets hacked on build-electronic-circuits.com. Electronic masterpiece from the year 1937 gets explored and innovated through some quality machinery and super sharp efforts by Øyvind Nydal Dahl. Getting a pump through an Arduino based display, Apple pin connectors and major amplifier and speaker tweaks has made this hack possible. The sound from this dock is amazing and any music would be amazing to hear on it. Check out this video to find out how the gadget is assembled and tested.
So if you are really into tweaking things here and there, this would certainly make your day (even if it hasn’t been so good).
Hacking is anything which describes an object in a totally new manner. At the time when this radio was made, who would have thought that such amazing jinxing can be done with it. Scroll down to for some interesting images of this project.
