Organizations in the present time are very peculiar about their data security and prohibit the usage of USB device in the office hours. In a fit to break this tradition, Subajit Roy, Somnath Chakrobarty and Sunanda Chatterjee has teamed together to built a USB powered Cloud (HADOOP) storage device. The primary intension of this phenomenal creation is to integrate cloud with USB storage device and rephrase every organizations policy to permit the usage of USB without the fear of data leakage and other security concerns.
The devices used in the invention are:
-
TM4C1294 Connected Launchpad- EK-TM4C1294 XL
-
Code Component Studio
-
Cloud era VM with preinstalled HADOOP
-
TP-Link Router Modem
-
Micro USB Cables
-
Ethernet cable
The HERO of the project: TM4C1294 Connected Launchpad- EK-TM4C1294 XL:
The evaluation board is basically a low cost solution platform for the extraordinary ARM Cortex-M4-based microcontrollers.
Session with the connections in the phenomenal circuit:
TIVA series microcontroller board is connected to a USB device at one end and an Ethernet jack at another end. It is an enumerated USB mass device and is connected to a remote HADOOP server via Ethernet as well. The microcontroller is connected as a US high-speed mass storage device. The device gets powered from PC and is networked via Ethernet to a cloud server having a HDFS file system. Whatever data is being received from the USB is sent to the cloud server.
The game of connections: Working of the circuit
The controller on receiving commands from USB Host sends the signals to the cloud server. An application running on the cloud server takes the data and stores it in an HDFS environment as required. The USB is connected to the PC and the PC is powered immediately which further gets connected with the HDFS server. The device reads the PC and then requests for a read operation from server and then displays the information on the PC.
Inside the PC, Insertion and Deletion takes place and subsequently all changes take place.
Walking-Through the whole scenario and gathering a conclusion:
No data leakage and no safety issues can be experienced in the developed scheme. The capacity of the USB drive is more and is expandable. The approach used by the team is more secure than the conventional approach. Call it complementary, the USB drive can be used as media disk and willfully permits data duplication.
