EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) is an advance telecommunication technology built on the GSM (Global System for Mobiles) standards. EDGE manages to increase data speeds using the same GSM radio carriers by means of a different type of modulation. Along with the old Gaussian Mean Shift Keying, EDGE also uses the Eight State Phase Shift Keying.
The multimedia applications such as video, audio and graphics are transferred on the EDGE networks with a high speed up to 384 kbps.
