USB 3.0 also called Super Speed USB, released in November 2008, is the improved version of USB 2.0, with maximum data transfer speed of 5Gbps. Other important improvements include reduced waiting time for users, power optimization etc. USB 3.0 is also backward compatible with USB 2.0. USB 3.0 has been developed to match the higher bandwidth requirement of devices like portable hard disk, high resolution webcam etc which have been improving at a high pace with the growth of technology.
