ADC or analog to digital converter is an electronic device, which used to convert the analog signals to digital form. The digitized signals are then used for further processing by a processor. Sensors convert the physical quantity like temperature, pressure etc into analog electrical signals. ADC are used to converts these analog signals to digital. Depending on how the data is transferred ADC can be classified as serial or parallel. An important parameter before selecting the ADC is resolution like 8-bit or 16 bit ADC.
