Those who travel frequently are well aware of the problems related with luggage transfer and carrying it through longer distances. A simple solution to this was recently rendered by Piaggio Fast Forwards who came up with GITA, an autonomous vehicle that has carrying capabilities of a person. GITA is an automatic intelligent vehicle that can move on its own in a mapped environment and comes with a communication personality. Piaggio Fast Forward is an establishment from the Europe-based Piaggio Group in United States. Piaggio is well known for its light mobility vehicles and the most iconic Vespa scooter.
The CEO of Fast Forward, Jeffrey Schnapp, explains, “The transportation and robotics industries tend to focus on optimizing tasks and displacing labor. We are developing products that augment and extend human capabilities, instead of simply seeking to replace them.” GITA is 26 inches tall dimensionally and has ability to carry weight worth 40 pounds at a mind=blowing speed of 22 miles per hour. It has been designed to accompany people at various speeds and crawling its way inside buses and over bikes.
The vehicle has a zero turning radius which means it can move easily inside as well as outside the walls. It can also follow its owner and will move automatically along the pathway that has been covered previously by the owner. The new technology can be interpreted as that now you can always walk with goods worth 40 pounds out of a warehouse or shop in place driving up to there to pick up. While you walk ahead of it simply, GITA will take care of lifting up all heavy burden for you. It also has a senior version called KILO that can bear weight up to 250 pounds and can be used for transfer of larger sized cargos.
