ROHM recently presented the markets with smallest current sensor in industry named as the BM14270MUV-LB. Capable of offering minimum power loss in smallest possible size. A perfect one for consumer devices and industrial equipments it can detect current based operating conditions like solar power systems, data center servers, as well as battery-driven drones all of which demand high power.

In last few decades, the demand for safety and energy conversation to sync with environmental regulations. All the present day applications need safety countermeasures and need power visualization for high power requirements lie solar power systems and data center servers. However, the traditional current sensors with Hall elements normally feature lower sensitivity and high level current consumption. Till date, we were all waiting for sensors that promise lower power loss and higher reliability in a very compact size.
ROHM came up with a current sensor using low current higher sensitivity MI element that permits 100% contactless current detection. This new sensor was developed by ROHM’s sensor control technologies and semiconductor production technology with MI element from Aichi Steel.
This led to development of a contactless current sensors that completely keep away the need of drawing current inside the sensor for scaling it. The sensor, on its own, uses very less current that stands at 0.07 mA which is 100 times smaller in size as compared to the conventional products. For now, the BM14270MUV-LB happens to be the smallest one in size in the industry.
Features
Along with, it also includes a disturbance magnetic field cancellation function that provides solid protection against unwanted noise. Digital output offered by the in-built A/D converter brings down the MCU load offering current monitoring. This specific permit users to detect current virtually from any application promising better reliability from devices driven by battery driven devices for high power industrial equipment.
