To build on innovations that advance intelligence at the edge, Texas Instruments (TI) introduced a new family of six Arm Cortex-based vision processors that allow designers to add more vision and artificial intelligence (AI) processing at a lower cost, and with better energy efficiency, in applications such as video doorbells, machine vision and autonomous mobile…
New hardware support package available for MathWorks Simulink
MathWorks and Infineon Technologies have announced a hardware support package for the MathWorks Simulink products for Infineon’s latest AURIX TC4x family of automotive microcontrollers. Automotive engineers designing advanced electric vehicles, sensor fusion, and radar signal processing functions can use the hardware support package, even before silicon is available. With the package, they can validate use…
STMicroelectronics extends STM32Cube.AI development tool
STMicroelectronics has released STM32Cube.AI version 7.2.0, the first artificial-intelligence (AI) development tool by an microcontroller (MCU) vendor to support ultra-efficient deeply quantized neural networks. STM32Cube.AI converts pre-trained neural networks into optimized C code for STM32 microcontrollers (MCUs). It’s an essential tool for developing cutting-edge AI solutions that make the most of the constrained memory sizes and computing…
Renesas’ RA Family microcontrollers earn CAVP certification for cryptographic algorithms
Renesas Electronics Corporation, a supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, announced that the security engine of its RA Family of 32-bit Arm Cortex-M microcontrollers (MCUs) has been certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cryptographic Algorithm Verification Program (CAVP). The drivers to use the certified SCE9 Protected Mode are included in the RA…
STMicroelectronics combines signal processing and AI algorithms onto MEMS sensors
STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor provider and a top manufacturer of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), has announced the launch of the Intelligent Sensor Processing Unit (ISPU), which combines a digital signal processor (DSP) suited to run AI algorithms and MEMS sensor on the same silicon. In addition to reducing size over system-in-package devices and cutting power by up…
Microchip adds an HLS design workflow to its PolarFire FPGA portfolio
The need to combine performance with low-power consumption in edge-compute applications has driven demand for field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) to be used as power-efficient accelerators while providing flexibility and speeding time to market. However, a large majority of edge compute, computer vision and industrial control algorithms are developed natively in C++ by developers with little…
STMicroelectronics offers eco-friendly digital-power solution for LED TVs
The STEVAL-NRG011TV board from STMicroelectronics helps designers quickly build 200W digital-power supplies and adapters for LED and OLED televisions to exceed the toughest energy-efficiency and standby regulations. Based on ST’s STNRG011 digital PFC (power-factor correction) and resonant LLC converter, the STEVAL-NRG011TV combines a proven and reliable topology with the ability to configure and fine-tune the operating parameters for optimal…
Swarm Robotics
“When everybody thinks alike, nobody is thinking much”, is so rightly said. Think out-of-the-box and you potent some innovation or maybe an invention; credits to your gamut. To speak in line with the concept here, swarming population; not always, is a bad idea. How about rescuing some disaster hit zone with swarming intelligent population or maintaining a warehouse with moving, self-operational shelves?? A great idea indeed. Everybody must have noticed the movement of ants or similar insects. It is awesomely coordinated and aligned with respect to each other. They accomplish their task collectively by keeping an eye on each other’s movement. This type of coordinated movement in insects is termed as Swarm and when this movement is performed by some group of robots then in technical terms it is called as “Swarm Robotics” inspired by colonies of ants and swarms of bees.
Face Recognition
Face, the foremost distinguishing feature of human body, making you the ‘unique you’, not only gives you an individual identity, but can also save you from security breaches and fraud transactions, can take care of your personal data, and prevent your PC, wireless network from plausible security threats!! Unlike the world of facebook, where you can wear different face every day, here it is the uniqueness of your face that makes all the difference. The fast track technology has brought the world at your finger tips, be it anything, it is not more than a click away. The easier life is getting day by day, the more complex it is becoming to escape from the traps intended to crack and get access to your private data. The growth of e-commerce wholly depends on the integrity of transaction.
