Planning out a trip outside ? Want to test your new drone ? Excited for the cricket match between your favorite rivals? All these make me happy things come to a cease when the weather goes cloudy and silently says, “Not today, buddy”. Wish we could control weather, or predict it better, so that no plan goes washed away. To explore the weather uncertainties in your area and around, we bring you an Arduino based Weather Station. What makes it better is the integration to ThingSpeak, an Internet of Things aggregator which stores all the data and makes your station no less than weather Google.
Through this DIY, you can find out direction of wind, temperature, dew point, humidity, rain fall duration and of course, the pressure variations.
This is a multiple Arduino using project where an Arduino Uno and Arduino Mega team up. The Uno attached itself with Arduino based weather shields and the Mega keeps up with the communication. Being weather based DIY, this project needs better communication to the computer and the internet. That is why Xbee modules, Ethernet shields are added. The whole hardware has been interfaced with MATLAB to give better results as you can fetch graphs and have a detailed comparative study.
Interfacing with ThingSpeak does a wonderful job as once installed, weather station would never cease to receive data. Through ThingSpeak integration, you not only can store, but also transmit and share your data with the peers and explorers all over the world. Interesting? Team up and be an electronics lover cum weather scientist.
