Dialog Semiconductors, the known maker of Bluetooth low energy technology, Solid State Lighting (SSL), AC/DC power conversion and several other projects, today showcased addition of ambient lighting and color sensing technology integration with its smart lighting platform. The platform is known for dealing with Bluetooth controllers and LED drivers. It establishes a new milestone in the joint association of Dialog with Dyna Image since both organizations are busy in combining their fortes in order to provide a complete package of platform solutions.

In last few months, both Dyna Image and Dialog have coordinated with each other in terms of design integration. While Dyna Image has contributed its all-in-one optical heart rate monitor and micro-electromechanical systems’ accelerometer sensors, Dialog has completed the project with its SmartBonc ™DA14580 Bluetooth System-on-Chip (SoC) and sensor fusion software. It is a complete wearable product that will offer better convenience to patients. After a few days, the two firms again got together to project their approved technologies in optical sensing and SSL together for delivering a performance and cost optimized sensor-based control into LED lighting options.
Addition of color sensing technology in Dialog’s tuneable-white driver permits the lamps to change their color automatically from blue-white to amber as the temperature rises. The auto-tuning lamps like these work together with ordinary lamps to offer an amazing lighting experience to viewers. The sensing feature also enhances automatic compensation for normal temperature variations in LED lights on regular days. Other specific capabilities include the potential to change the color temperature inside with respect to the outside temperature alterations. It also helps in creation of natural light experience for human body in form of circadian rhythm that is claims to bring significant improvements in wellbeing and health of others.
As Mark Tyndall, the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy at Dialog likes to add, “As the SSL market goes mainstream with 60 watt equivalent lamps using Dialog drivers retailing at mass market prices, the lighting industry is looking for creative ways to add value and differentiate its products. Smart lighting is an emerging market where we see significant product innovation and huge growth opportunity. Adding Dyna Image’s optical sensors to Dialog’s smart lighting platform enables our customers to quickly deploy world-leading lighting products into this fast growing market.”
Dialog Semiconductors is already known for leading the supplier chain of driver integrated circuits for SSL. For smart lighting, its association with Dyna Image increases the company’s share significantly in terms of lighting fixtures, optical sensor controls, Bluetooth Control technologies, and TRIAC dimming drivers.
Sean Li, the CEO of Dyna Image also comments that, “Twelve months into our joint venture, we are excited to be leveraging our combined technology portfolio moving us beyond sensor component level to supplying customers with value-added system solutions.”
