MediaTek is a Taiwan based chip making company that recently developed an innovative System-On-Chip (SOC) that promises fastest recharging of phone batteries till date. The Pump Express 3.0 technology developed by this company is capable enough to charge your phone from 0-70 per cent in just 20 minutes. The technology is two times faster than the fastest charging machines and around five times faster than the regular charging procedures.

 

The Co-Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President of MediaTek Technologies talks about this technology and adds that, “The engineering challenge in the smartphone world today is satisfying consumer demand for powerful, rich multimedia features without needing to plug in their phones all day long. Out technology lets consumers power up quickly to stay connected, on the go and using their favorite applications whether for work or play instead of tethered to an outlet.”

 

This technology will land in markets by end of this year via the Helio series P20 processors. The upcoming chipsets will also utilize the groundbreaking charging technology that permits direct charging with the USB Type-C port.

 

 

In case of other manufacturer’s chips, the output current and charging speed gets restricted due to the heat produced in initial stage of this process. The technology developed by MediaTek has covered the heating obstacle, it actually by-passed the IC in between that gets charged, instead the current directly flows in the battery from adapter. It opens up the path for the company to use more than 5 Ampere current that offers fastest charging speed. The Pump Engine 3.0 is one of the fastest and most secure charging solutions that employs the bi-directional communication to adjust the voltage energetically and also bring down the duration of recharge and bringing down the amount of heat emanated during the process.
