Experience the difference in power: Meet Infineon at PCIM 2022

By Michelle Froese

Infineon Technologies offers power solutions — such as CoolSiC and CoolGaN — which enable higher power density, smaller size, improved performance, and a greener future. At PCIM 2022 in Nuremberg, Germany on May 10-12, the company will be showcasing the latest trends in power semiconductors and wide bandgap technologies (Hall 7 | Booth 412).

Visitors who are unable to attend the live show, can register here for Infineon’s virtual booth, which will be available 24/7, starting May 10.

An energy-efficient world
The EconoDUAL 3 is one of the most popular power electronics packages on the market for key applications, such as general purpose drives, electric buses and trucks, solar and wind power systems, uninterruptible power supplies, chargers and traction systems.

At PCIM 2022, Infineon will showcase specific EconoDUAL 3 module solutions, including the EconoDUAL 3 Black Series, EconoDUAL 3 Wave, and EconoDUAL 3 1700 V IGBT7, featuring the latest TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 chip technology.

Modern 65 W chargers will soon no longer be sufficient to charge all consumer devices. To address this challenge, Infineon presents the hardware demonstrator of 240 W CoolGaN USB-C charger with ultra-high power density and wide output voltage range. Furthermore, the company will introduce a high-voltage expansion of the CoolSiC portfolio, which will provide the foundation for the next generation systems in photovoltaic, charging, and storage infrastructure.

Dr. Peter Friedrichs will also hold a press conference about the portfolio extension on Tuesday, May 10 at 10.00 a.m. in the conference area NCC East, Level 2, room Budapest.

Additional highlights…

  • Green energy  and industry: Infineon enables energy generation and storage that is as climate-friendly as possible. Unprecedented levels of power density and efficiency can be achieved with CoolSiC MOSFET power modules, enabling new possibilities for inverter designs. The ideal combination of performance and reliability for solar power systems, UPS, motor control, and drives is achieved with the CoolSiC 1200V M1H with .XT interconnect technology, resulting in best-in-class thermal performance. System design can also be optimized with the EiceDRIVER X3 and F3, an ideal solution for CoolSiC power devices.
  • Smart home and smart building: Infineon helps manufacturers develop innovative home system and smart building designs that meet the growing demand for smart, connected and energy-efficient living environments. Solutions such as the new XENSIV radar sensors can track people across the room to control airflow for air-conditioning. Further, the new CIPOS Micro can be used to improve system robustness and advanced performance capabilities in washing machine drums. The novel battery charging IC ICC80QSG enables highly efficient and cost-effective charging of Li-Ion batteries used in power and gardening tools, small home appliances, and e-bikes.
  • eTransportation and eMobility: Infineon is accelerating the transition to an electrified, decarbonized mobility landscape. Leading solutions — from highly flexible and efficient discrete CoolMOS, CoolSiC, and CoolGaN to highly integrated Easy power modules — address all trends in on-board chargers. Best-in-class reliability and highest power density can be achieved with new XHP IGBT modules and proven IHV modules that deliver more power and flexibility for traction propulsion converters. Following the motto “Sense – Think – Act,” the complete range of electrification solutions enables CO 2 reduction in commercial, construction, and agricultural vehicles (CAVs). The devices are all designed to deliver more efficiency, higher power density and optimized switching in electric powertrains.
  • New service: Lifetime estimation service: IPOSIM Lifetime Estimation is the new premium feature of the Infineon Online Power Simulation Platform (IPOSIM), premiering at PCIM 2022. It enables designers to digitally estimate the lifetime of Infineon power modules according to use and application requirements. As an industry first, IPOSIM provides 24/7 online access to Infineon’s unique expertise to simplify the design process.

At the PCIM 2022 tradeshow, Infineon is presenting innovative product-to-system solutions for applications that are set to power the world and shape the future. Company representatives are also holding several presentations at the accompanying PCIM Conference and Industry & E-Mobility Forum with live and on-demand video presentations, followed by discussions with the speakers. “Experience the difference in power” at Infineon’s Booth 412 in Hall 7.
