Fujitsu and SUSE have announced the launch of a new premium Linux support service named as “SUSE Business Critical Linux” which is to be offered exclusively by Fujitsu over the next 1 year. The company has selected SUSE as its preferred partner for this service which is going to be offered on the basis of their strategic alliance concerning open-source product development and support, announced in November 2016.
With the increasing adoption of Linux operating systems by enterprise worldwide, the demand for higher-level support services is also rising, particularly in mission-critical areas where applications like in-memory databases are running on Linux platforms.
“SUSE Business Critical Linux” will be offered jointly by the two organizations to address customers’ evolving needs with a highly reliable, 24/7 support framework. It significantly extends current support periods, from 5 years to up to 8 years per SUSE service pack.
The exclusive service enables business customers to avail one-stop shopping including Fujitsu-made servers and other hardware. This alliance is going to aid customers in cutting risks, ensuring round-the-clock application availability and long-term application stability alongside optimized maintenance schedules and costs.
Pricing and Availability
The SUSE Business Critical Linux will be available from July 2017 to users running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12” and “SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 High Availability Extension”. Initially, it will be rolled out in Japan and later other regions would be able to avail the service.
