Intel has announced the availability of Wind River Titanium Control software platform for the advancement of Industrial IoT. Titanium Control is an on-premise cloud-scale infrastructure that allows infrastructure companies to evolve aging legacy control systems that were earlier not designed to support the connected nature of IoT.
Since the conventional industrial control systems were not designed to support Internet of Things (IoT), most of them are rigid, incur high cost to deploy, integrate, maintain and serve a single purpose. In addition to this, the obsolescence cycle driving system updates demands new systems to keep pace with innovation while maintaining or lowering capital costs.

Titanium Control has been optimised for Intel Xeon processors and has been pre-validated from the leading providers of Intel-based servers. It uses an open standard based platform to virtualise traditional physical subsystems. Contrary to the enterprise IT virtualization platforms, Titanium Control is highly reliable for applications and services deployed at the network edge.
