Dear User
Check EG Labs for following new projects on Serial EEPROM AT24C02.
*Interfacing 24C02 with 8051 microcontroller (AT89C51) [Details]
*Serial EEPROM Memory Reset using 8051 microcontroller (AT89C51) [Details]
Find out basic details, pin diagram and pin description of 24C02 here.
External EEPROM is used to store data in a way similar to storing information on a hard drive. The information stored is not lost once the power supply is turned off. It can only be lost if specific instructions are given to erase the stored data.
EEPROM stands for Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory and is a type of non-volatile memory used in computers and other electronic devices to store small amounts of data that must be saved when power is removed.
Microcontroller AT89C51 has a serial interface which is used to connect an external serial EEPROM. Interfacing EEPROM requires the knoledge of read/write operations and different addressing modes. The data read from AT24C02 can also be displayed on a 16×2 LCD.
